One of the many attractions at Ruddington’s three day Village Christmas Market this year was a pop-up stall on the Saturday which was run by 1st Ruddington Scouts.
Keen to raise funds themselves for their many activities, in the months before the event many Beavers, Scouts and Cubs had spent time making glass decorations and other items to sell on the day – some of which are pictured below. Not only that, their stall featured two tombolas; with chocolates and gifts kindly donated by local families and small businesses.
Chair of 1st Ruddington Scouts, Jennifer Boniface, says: “Despite the freezing conditions, leaders, trustees and young people set up, staffed and cleared up the stall with lots of enthusiasm; it was great fun to meet some of the many visitors to the market. They would like to thank everyone who supported them in organising and running the stall, which made a whopping £600! This money will be used to support our fantastic Scouting activities in the village.”
Their successful fundraiser caps off the year in which they celebrated their 80th birthday. 1st Ruddington Scouts actually came into existence during World War II – launching on 12th July 1943.
